Mahip Rathore is a lawyer turned therapist and meditation teacher. He grew up in central India and is now residing in Santa Barbara, California. He went to Eastern Illinois University for a master’s in clinical psychology, and Tennessee State University for a PhD in counseling psychology. His research is focused on the practice of mindfulness and its metacognitive mechanisms, development of wisdom through coping with difficult life situations, impact of decentering on self-transcendence or non-dual awakening.
Mahip has completed five 10-day Vipassana meditation courses under the tradition of Sri S. N. Goenka and he studies Advaita Vedanta with Jim Gilman, who is a disciple of Swami Chinmaynanda. Mahip teaches mindfulness and open awareness meditations and offers meditation coaching to individuals and groups. He incorporates clinical insights, personal life experiences, and traditional knowledge to make the wisdom of nonduality accessible to people in general.
